The World Renown Blue Mansion – Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in Penang

When I finally had an opportunity to visit Penang for the first time, Cheong Fatt Tze mansion naturally came to mind. It was the first item in my must-visit list. The building was recently named one of the world’s 10 greatest mansions and grand houses by popular travel guide Lonely Planet. It was just one of the many accolades and awards won by the mansion.

This flamboyant masterpiece has 38 rooms, 5 courtyards, 7 staircases and 220 windows. Built in the late 19th century, the mansion is one of the attractions in UNESCO-listed heritage zone of Georgetown, Penang. Picture of the mansion, taken from this angle was probably shot and published thousands of times by visitors. But having the opportunity to visit and capturing the photo by myself, was like a dream come true.
