Maxis Offered Free 16GB iPhone 3GS, Too Bad The Online Booking Form Is Scrappy
Yeah, you’re right. The title above is just a gimmick. But Maxis did actually offer a free 16GB iPhone 3GS under it’s iValue 4 rate plan where you have to pay RM375 monthly fee. Other rate plans can be referred in their website that were officially released today. The rate plans are similar to what they offered with the previous iPhone 3G where you have an options of iValue Plan, iData Plan or Prepaid Plan. The iPhone 3GS price varied with different plans that you choose. The original Maxis reserve price for this new iPhone are RM2,490 and RM2,990 for 16GB and 32GB respectively.
The phone itself is only ready for collection starting from 31st July but you can make an online booking to become among the early owner of iPhone 3GS in Malaysia. Maxis asked for RM200 non-refundable online booking charge. However, the online booking page is real-damn-slow at the moment and some of the booking form functionality is not working. And after more than 1 hour trying, I finally got the error message below. So frustrated! I guess Maxis website is now handling traffics more than they can handle.

I’ll write more about Maxis iPhone 3GS later when I’m done with the booking. #%@*&~
update: Finally completed the booking process. Can’t wait to test the new iPhone!

excuse me,
how does the payment works? price and everything?
how much do we need to pay for startup?
currently, im on Maxis 80.
Don’t bother lar… what maxis offering is far too expensive adi…
many of us also got the same error… I guess maxis web server is just not ready to take the surge of traffic… or maybe they are not ready.. .
hi xun,
The rate plans information in Maxis website is actually not very clear. I had called the customer service to enquire about the iData Plan but it seems that they’re not trained to understand the plans as well.
So basically, to answer your question, you have to select which plan you’re comfortable with. You have to select either iValue or iData. There are prepaid plan as well but it’s not for you since you’re on Maxis 80. iData Plan is designed for existing Maxis customer like you. However, according to it’s FAQ, iValue Plan is actually better in terms of value for money. The plan you choose, contract terms (12 or 24 months), and iphone capacity (16GB, 24GB) will determine the price of your iPhone. For example, I choose iValue Plan 1 with 12 months contract and 16GB version is enough for me. This plan makes my iPhone costs RM1,990 and i have to pay a monthly fee of RM100. I understand that there will be no startup cost. However, i’ll have to pay non-refundable RM200 deposit for the booking.
Hope the answer is clear. If you have any info from different sources regarding the matter, please let me know.
the plan are so expensive. huhu.

what wrong with that ?
can anyone help me out?
pls…urgent man
spencersoon,
I heard that Maxis iphone 3GS is unlocked. That means you can use any other sim card and I guess that’s why you can make a phone call and SMS. If you bought the iphone from Maxis, you can always call the customer service to verify your problem. Alternatively, Digi should be able to verify at their end whether the Maxis iphone can be used with their services.
